30th September 2016 and I was traveling from Brisbane to Winton in my 2014 VW Polo and stopped for fuel for the final stretch from Longreach to Winton and the 95 octane fuel purchased from BP Longreach was contaminated with water and other solid materials. Result was the engine stopped and couldn't be restarted just outside of town. I was towed to Longreach Motors (who were great, they stayed open past closing on the Friday afternoon of the Labour day long weekend) where the fuel contamination was diagnosed (a sample taken in a 600ml bottle showed only about 1cm of fuel on top of 599ml of water and dirt). Next day i approached the owner of the BP Longreach the next day, (who made me wait about an hour before he would speak with me) he claimed that they "had never had an issue with water in the fuel while he operated this station" and his partner suggested that i had "picked up the contaminated fuel at the previous stop" (539km back in Dingo) "and it had not entered the system as water floats of fuel" to which i pointed out was incorrect. I was assured that a sample would be taken and analyzed for contamination and they would advise me of the results. I left full contact details and never heard from them. They have never contacted me. Worked out the best thing to for my circumstances was to put the car on a car carrying truck and transport it back to Brisbane. Cost to date for this event is just under $5000 (cars transport, accommodation, car rental, flights and of course vehicle repairs), i was without the car for 12 days and had my holiday ruined. Mechanics who repaired my car have told me that further damage may have taken place which couldn't be diagnosed by them using exsisting technology and further serious damage may have occured and could become apparent in the next 6 months (and could cost many thousands more to rectify). One local told me "they often have dirty fuel" and that he "never buys fuel from BP". Wish i had know that before also. KEEP AWAY FROM BP LONGREACH!!!!!

The guys in the workshop are rock stars! We had cause to stop in TWICE for urgent repairs to our vehicle on a recent trip to Mt Isa (once on the way up and then again on the way home) The chaps there were super helpful and sorted out our issues so quickly for us. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
